Roll up, roll up for Walsall Town Show!
Date Published : 30 July 2010
Back by popular demand - Walsall Town Show promises a wonderful weekend of fun for the whole family this summer at the Arboretum.
With monster trucks, traction engines, models, fairground rides, displays, stalls and Punch & Judy, people should mark Saturday and Sunday 14 and 15 August 2010 on their calendars.
The event has been organised once again by Councillor Anthony Harris and his family following the soaraway success of last year’s Walsall Town Show which was held to celebrate the 150th birthday of “King of Showmen” Pat Collins.
This year’s extravaganza will be officially opened by the Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Gary Clarke, and proceeds will boost his main charity, Walsall Hospice, as well as Afghan Heroes a charity which supports British Forces in Afghanistan and looks after the welfare of those involved in the conflict and their families.
Councillor Harris said: “Last year’s show was absolutely great and the Arboretum was buzzing.
“We hadn’t even packed up for the weekend before people were asking if it was going to be run again this year so we took that as a sign that people wanted us to repeat the event.
“We’ve still kept admission prices reasonable. Admission is £3 for everyone. It starts at 10am and lasts until 6pm and we are looking forward to it being packed out again in 2010.
“We’ve chosen Afghan Heroes and Walsall Hospice as the causes which will benefit and want to see mums, dads, aunties, uncles, grandmas and granddads, little kids and big kids pouring through the gates in August.”
