Verge Parking in Walsall

Have your say on verge parking proposals in your local area

Extra parking is to be created in a handful of streets across Walsall as part of a scheme which will see grass verges converted to parking spaces.

Walsall Council's area panels have been working alongside the council's Engineering and Transportation team to consider suggestions for areas which would benefit from the initiative aimed at addressing concerns about unsafe and indiscriminate parking.

Priority sites for verge parking have now been identified.

Six locations across Walsall, voted for by residents, have been agreed as priority schemes for verge parking which will see grass verges converted into parking spaces.

Broadmeadow in Aldridge, Stanley Road in Rushall,Tildesley Drive in Willenhall, Primley Avenue in Alumwell,Lancaster Place in Bloxwich and Hawthorne Place, Bentley, have been chosen by residents and approved by the area panels.

The Engineering and Transportation team will now draw up detailed plans in consultation with residents.

A total of £250,000 was approved by Cabinet as part of the 2013/14 budget to spend on the initiative which aims to address issues around unsafe and indiscriminate parking.

Over the years residents have sent in a number of suggestions for verge parking schemes.

Following consultation with residents we have listened to what our residents have to say and the schemes put forward for inclusion on the priority list have been chosen by the community and supported by area panels.

Any schemes not included in the programme will be retained for future funding opportunities.

Consultation has now closed for this project.
