Keeping warm in winter

The Department of Health have issued some general tips on keeping warm in the winter:

  • Keep warm at all times - this is particularly important for older people in order to avoid circulation problems. Wear clothing in layers and keep moving if possible.
  • Keep rooms – including the bedroom – warm and close windows. If your house is cold, body temperature will drop and catching a cold is more likely.
  • If you are eligible for a flu jab make sure you have it.

For advice and information on keeping warm in winter go to the Keep Warm, Keep Well section of the Directgov website or NHS Choices 'Very Cold Weather' pages

There are more details there on how to keep warm and healthy during the cold weather.  You can also download the Keep Warm, Keep Well booklet.

The Walsall Council website also has additional advice on what you can do to protect yourself from the cold weather and possible emergencies
