Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know how long the research will take?

We suggest that you start with an-hour’s research and ask us to contact you with an indication of what we have found and whether we think there may be more to find. This gives you the choice of extending the research time.

I ordered a copy but was told that my information was not correct. What can I do?

If we do not find what you have requested because your information was not accurate we will contact you and give you the option of either searching yourself or using our Research Service.

I’ve been told I need authorisation to have a copy of a record - why?

Some records do not belong to us but are deposited here for safe-keeping. The owner of the record must give permission before we can copy it for you. Coroner’s records and school records are examples of these.

How soon will you do my research?

We aim to complete your research in 20 working days.
