Housing options

Following a voluntary stock transfer in March 2003, Walsall Council no longer has any housing stock.  We have a team of housing advisors based at the Civic Centre who provide advice and assistance on a range of housing issues.  A series of leaflets has been produced which are available to download:

If you need housing advice, please call 01922 653405 to make an appointment. We provide free and confidential help with a range of housing issues, including:

  • Finding accommodation
  • Preventing homelessness
  • Housing and welfare benefits
  • Understanding your legal rights
  • Rent and mortgage arrears
  • Eviction and re-possession
  • Domestic violence
  • Disrepair

Further information on homelessness can be found at  www.homelessblackcountry.org.

If you own your own home, or are a tenant or lodger, one simple call to our helpline on 01922 653405 will begin the process to get you the right help.  In most cases, we can advise directly but occasionally, we may direct you to other services that can give you more appropriate assistance.

We are able to offer:

  • A home visit if you need one
  • An interpreter if your first language is not English
  • The services of an intermediary if you have hearing or speech difficulties
  • Offices that are accessible if you have physical or sensory disabilities
  • An interview with a housing advisor of the same gender if you request this
