Information and advice

The ILC provides a wide range of information and advice on various health conditions, holidays for disabled people, welfare benefits, housing, Motobility and much more. There are Independent Living facilitators on hand to help you with your query if you need more assistance, and specialists who can guide you through some of the more complex issues that you may be facing.

Occupational Therapy

A member of the Occupational Therapy Service will be available to provide advice and information regarding all aspects of daily living, from simple gadgets through to the latest technology, from kettle tippers to advice regarding major adaptations to your home.

A wide range of equipment is available for demonstration and assessment including items available from social services and health and alternatives available for private purchase.

Telecare and Telehealth

You can also get advice on and view demonstrations of telecare and telehealth equipment.

Telecare equipment can help people to remain living in their own homes for longer with greater independence, confidence and safety. This includes things like pendant alarms, key safes and falls detectors. This equipment is available for older people, disabled people, carers and in some cases children and young people.

Telehealth is the remote monitoring of a patient’s medical condition. With modern technology, patients can be monitored in their own homes without having to visit their GP surgery or local hospital. Examples of things which can be monitored are blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation levels.
