If you need a copy of a marriage certificate for a marriage that took place in Walsall you can apply to Walsall Register Office in person, by letter or by completing our application for a marriage certificate form (PDF 557KB) and sending it back to us. Applications can also be made over the telephone., to do this contact the regsiter office on 0300 555 2847 and select option 3. (payment must be made at the time of the application by credt/debit card).
If you are writing into Walsall Register Office your cheque or postal order should be made payable to ‘Superintendent Registrar’ and a stamped addressed envelope (or an international reply coupon if you are overseas) should be included with your application.

You will need to supply the following information:
- Names of both parties at the time of the marriage
- Date of Marriage
- Place of Marriage (either Register Office, Church or Approved Premise)
If you do not know the date of the marriage then you can make an application to General Register Office . (certificate services) for a general search on the national database, or a 5 year search can be made at the Register Office covering the district where the birth took place.
If the marriage did not occur in the Borough of Walsall, you will need to contact the Register Office in the area in which the death did occur, or if you do not know this contact General Register Office.
