Wildlife on your doorstep

Wherever you are in Walsall you’re never far from a countryside site or green open space.  We have a staggering 30 countryside sites in Walsall, including 11 Local Nature Reserves, Green Flag Sites and a brand new Country Park, which includes the former Grange Golf Course at the Arboretum Extension.

Walsall Countryside Services are always busy managing and monitoring our countryside, recording wildlife, and running events including walks and talks on subjects from history to urban wildlife and even astronomy!  We also support an active network of 'Friends of...' groups and work with local conservation organisations from the Wildlife Trust and RSPB to local Naturalists and Biological Recorders.

Our rangers run a series of basketry and traditional craft courses, in which you can learn traditional green wood crafts, basket making and more.  We also run Forest School sessions, and teach courses for Forest School Level 1 and Level 2 practitioners.

Take a look through the links to your right, where you'll find all you need to know about our Countryside sites and Local Nature Reserves, including how to get there, what to do, and what events we've got planned.  If you would like to get involved with any of our volunteer groups or would like to come along to an event, we'd love to hear from you.
